Teeth Brushing

I have a fear that my kids will get cavities when they are very young and the dentist and daycare parents and everyone around me will judge me harshly and silently. I brush their teeth twice a day, but even the dread of public humiliation sometimes isn’t enough motivation to ensure I am doing 30 seconds per mouth quadrant, or whatever the current recommendations are. But I want to say, I do not judge other parents who have children with cavities or metal in their mouth. Parenting is tough. In all honesty, my 3 year old is actually lusting after a “shiny tooth.” It’s all the rage at daycare. Anyway, when it comes to teeth brushing I try, hard, and then sometimes I give up. I may be alone, but the unexpected head/body movements that happen when trying to accurately, safely, and thoroughly clean a child’s teeth are humbling. The fear of inadvertently poking a major blood vessel or impaling their soft palate while trying to safely clean teeth is a thought that not so infrequently enters my mind. For this reason, I continue to use these safety tooth brushes with both of my kids. Yes, I have a 3 year old, and she is still unpredictable during teeth brushing time. Also the multi pack is appreciated. More than once have these bad boys found themselves in the toilet, litter box, etc. I’m cheap, but I’m not that cheap.
