I was the mom who would never have noisy toys…

Hah, that didn’t stick. Our first born was not the easiest baby. She hated her carseat. Having a 45 minute commute with a screaming baby was not pleasant. By month #2 after moving farther away from our jobs, we had invested in toys with buttons that make sounds. They don’t create peace for the whole ride, but boy do they help. Some were not hits, others were. For my kids they needed to be small enough they can wave them around, but not so small they have to press a button with one finger. Please note, I am still not a fan of noisy toys at home. If you are, fantastic, I hold nothing against you, but for me they are like little ice picks into my brain, but in the car I would far rather listen to a toy sing than a child cry, at the top of their lungs. We are now entering car-seat-screaming era for #2, and I broke these back out of my hidden spot for toys I would rather not have, but am afraid to get rid of. If you too find yourself in this era, this id what I would recommend.

Pro tip: For those that noise making toys make you wince, place a piece of packaging tape over the noise holes to make the noise level more pleasant. Then, convince your 3 year old not to remove said piece of tape (I didn’t think this was possible, but with the right verbiage I have succeeded and you can too)

Also…this walker has been clutch. My little boy loves to walk with it, and then will sit and push buttons for 10 minutes. That’s a big deal. Not a car thing, but still recommended.

Also, on a funny sidenote, we recently went out to breakfast and sat beside a family with young kids and I (without realizing I was doing it) say along to the song of a toy remote they had brought along which is one of my son’s car noisy toys. We laughed. They laughed. It’s funny how normal little kid phases are. Everyone goes through it. And if this is how you choose to cope, I support you.
